Spotted a bug in TastyTrade/TastyWorks example

  1. I think I spotted an error in how TastyTrade interprets the situation in the following reality :)

The error is with the first entry on Tuesday: they say "XYZ Call purchase settles". But this is IMO incorrect, because the purchase was already using settled cash (ie. UnsettledCash=$0 on Monday), so there is nothing further to settle in this case. The rest of the picture is correct.

And: IMO only sales generate "unsettled cash", not buys.

After your communication with TastyTrade concerning their error, what was their response?

if you have to worry about the pennies in margin calculation, you shouldn't trade options.

  4. What are you talking about? Where is any mention of margin in this thread?
"Margin" does not apply in such a CashAcct. And yes, this is about CashAcct!
Besides this: I'm an "exactist", everything must be logical & exact, up to the sub-penny! :)

  5. I wanted to ask first the ET "experts" :) about their opinion about this... :)
If TT cares then they surely can comment here...

  6. To better understand the issue, one has to study the following example from the above fidelity link, especially the underscored passage:
And: this is with CashAcct, not MarginAcct.

You are right. I confused threads and you are not talking about margin.
    Keep trading options. :D

  8. Does your sarcasm imply options trading is not possible in a CashAcct?

    No.
I just believe that an account balance shouldn't be stressed, cash or margin. Things are not linear and it's better to have room to breath.
So I don't even consider or spend time in understanding the fine prints and the limits.
    But that's just me...

  10. I try to be "fully invested". Then I'm of course forced to go to the limits...
But then experiencing some mysterious errors with buggy platform software is of course no fun. Shouldn't happen... Otherwise an indicator for hidden bugs inside... Of course I'm making screenshots before and after any important action, and also getting all the important acct data periodically via API and archiving it...
