Sponsors versus Banned Members

I've notice that members at this forum decide to sponsor ET...they get a designation under their user name as "sponsor".
    • In contrast, bad members that are banned...why do they not get the designation of "banned" beneath their user name ???
In fact, I remember once it was stated by either a moderator or Baron that members with very low post counts and they then get banned for whatever reason...their user name are deleted with their message posts and/or threads.

Yet, recently, I've been noticing some banned members with low post counts...their messages and threads in fact do remain plus they're not identified via any "banned" under their user name. Its as if, there's a plan by ET management to allow these problematic members back into the forum regardless to the chaos they've created for members and the forum itself.
    • If that's the case, why not just put the designation of "temporarily banned" ???
In fact, the reason for the above questions is that I've notice certain members that enjoy the banned member's message posts...

The member will continue quoting the messages of the banned member as if they're trying to raise the dead while they know the member is banned. This was noticed in the trading threads.

Then how do you know they are "banned members", if they're not identified as "banned"?

  3. Not only does he know they are banned, he believes there is a secret plan by ET management to allow these banned members back into the forum to cause intolerable content to the ET members and the forum itself.

It's easy, you just have to ask when a problematic member suddenly disappears without any explanation from ET management.

    See my example @ https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/thread-closed-in-political-section.358717/
    • Oh wait...you already knew the answer considering you participated in my above thread. :D
The issue is this, obviously there's not a problem as in the excuse can not be that its too difficult to put the word "banned" below banned members user name considering the word sponsor is put beneath a sponsor user name.

All forums I've seen that are trading related and none trading related (e.g. home renovation forums) all use that easy to use feature...banned. Strangely, Elitetrader.com does not even on members that have low post counts.

I think it will be a useful encouragement to members to follow the terms of use policy and it will save time for a moderator or Baron to explain why a member suddenly disappears. Heck, I've seen forums even use 2 - 3 word explanations...

    "Banned Spammer"

    "Banned Racist"

    "Banned Conspiracy Theorist"

    "Banned Violence Promotion"

    "Banned Multiple Alias"

    "Banned Troll"

  5. Everyone is having growing pains on forums trying to draw out civil and educational discussions on anything finance related. One of the mods I know on the big forum said the “bots, bad actors, deceivers, crooks, pumpers, useful idiots, scammers, spammers are plaguing us”! It’s pure chaos on so many forums, ET is well managed! Baron deserves kudos!

ET Management? Good lord. It's not a company in that sense.

You've only been here since July of 2020...

Therefore, you would not be aware of the kudos / message post likes given to Baron by many members and myself over the years.

With that said, the question remains...
    • Why are banned members not identified as such with a designation beneath their user name and why are banned member allowed to be quoted by other members wanting to raise the dead sort'uv speak ???
In a thread last year...I asked another question about a different designation in which Baron replied very nicely with a good explanation involving why do some members have the "guest" designation beneath their user name after I noticed such.

The problem is that our software doesn't automatically apply the "Banned" or "Temporarily Banned" title to banned users. I wish it did. We would have to apply the banned title manually for every single banned user, which is way more effort than we are willing to put into it for the accounts of people who are banned and no longer active on the site.
