The British company that makes Lysol, and other disinfectants, released a public statement imploring consumers NOT to administer their disinfectant products in the human body. The remarkable statement comes hours after President Donald Trump curiously suggested some medically questionable remedies to the deadly Covid-19 contagion behind the coronavirus pandemic.

During Thursday night’s regular White House briefing from the coronavirus task force, President Trump suggested that household bleaching agents in most surface disinfectants to a possible internal treatment for humans, which would be toxic and possibly fatal.

“Then I see the disinfectant, one minute. Is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside, or almost a cleaning,” Trump noted. “Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it’d be interesting to check that so that you’ll have to use medical doctors with. But it sounds interesting to me. So we’ll see, but the whole concept of the light, where it goes in one minute. That’s pretty powerful.”

Reckitt Benckiser Group is a British multinational consumer goods company that produces Lysol among many other disinfecting household goods, directly responded to Trump’s comments, writing “we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route).”

It’s not clear to what Trump was referring to when he suggested injecting a disinfectant, but common sense should dictate that it is never a good idea to ingest or administer household cleaning agents into one’s body.

Due to recent speculation and social media activity, RB (the makers of Lysol and Dettol) has been asked whether internal administration of disinfectants may be appropriate for investigation or use as a treatment for coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).

As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route). As with all products, our disinfectant and hygiene products should only be used as intended and in line with usage guidelines. Please read the label and safety information.

At the end of the briefing the CNN reporter looked into the camera and said "please do not inject yourself with disinfectant".

Hopefully Fox News reporters didn't say the same to their audience.

Have to say I'm completely disappointed in the federal government's epic fail when it comes to cv.

No national early mitigation standards, mixed or downright dangerous or dumbass comments, testing and ppe failures , disagreements with scientific facts etc

I like Gottlieb and Cuomo. I sincerely wish Gottlieb was in charge of this situation, he's very smart

You could say Trump instead of 'federal', he is in charge, you are supposed to blame him for all the bullshit. He sat on his ass for a month, disbanded the pandemic unit and fired the vaccine guy for not promoting bullshit and that's just for starters.
