Of course this is from WSB and I redid the math, because the real gains happened since April. And yes, his mother is single. "I lost most of her portfolio 3 months ago in April (bottom tick was $800k) but have been able to grow it back to a much higher value than it was before the tariff BS. Total gains in 18 months: $4,000,000" New math: Bottom in April: 800K. Current value: 5.4 M Return in 100 calendar days: app. 580%
It's amazing how wealthy a lot of the r/WSB users are. That explains their preference for YOLO 0DTE bets so often. It's a lot different than their image of poor losers working at Wendy's for options money. When I graduated college my parents had almost no money in their IRA & they made a combined $50K (1991).
Funny part is, why did he even inlcude the whole 18 months? Had he written this post 3+ months ago it would have been a loss porn, because he was down by 40% after trading for more than a year. If he keeps trading it I hope he pulls out at least 2 M for her and never touches that.
https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/s/sqWz2a0GNN Like this guy who prints 4M (up 14x within a month) and don't think about taking some off the table. Well he's still up 100k.
It is kinda impossible to know when you peak. unless it is actually skill, not luck) If these guys have taken off something at 1 M, they would have not made it to 2 M. They are usually just more lucky for a time period than the rest. I am still waiting for Roaring Kitty's reappearance. I knew the stock was shit, but predicting when it was going to drop was hard. Anyhow, I want a sequel to the movie.
Hey, Google! What are these guys talking about? What is an r/WSB user? An "r/WSB user" refers to a member of the Reddit community known as r/wallstreetbets, a subreddit (a forum on Reddit) focused on discussions about stock and options trading, often with a focus on high-risk, speculative investments. These users, who sometimes call themselves "degenerates," are known for their use of slang, memes, and aggressive trading strategies, including the use of leveraged options. And what is a YOLO 0DTE? A YOLO 0DTE is a term used to describe a highly speculative, short-term trading strategy involving options with a zero-day expiration (0DTE). It's essentially a "You Only Live Once" approach to trading, where investors bet on rapid price movements in the underlying asset within the same day. The "YOLO" aspect comes from the high-risk, high-reward nature of these trades, where a small miscalculation can lead to substantial losses.
WSB boom and bust posts inspire me to withdraw frequently. Seeing your work past few months to just disappear based on stupid decisions is just too much to handle after a few times.
