So I got this email from a "wealth advisory firm"...

  1. Here is the bulk of it:

I wanted to share something you are not aware of and that is not being presented to you.

    • The #1 strategy I am using for clients provides for no income tax due for 5 years and is taxed at a capital gains tax rate at the end of 5 years.
    • It protects your investments from a market correction up to -40%.
    • It also provides for 125% of the stock market gains over the next 5 years.
    • No cost or management fees.
The strategy is simple and is not being shared with you. Would it be out of the question for you and I to visit 10 minutes by phone to share this strategy and keep you up to date on the very best options available to you?

I'm sure it is some kind of gimmick, but any idea if there is a particular product he is talking about?

Sounds like an upcoming episode of American greed.

The fact that he highlighted the 10 minutes is a good clue that he is in a Federal lockup, and abiding by their rules.

    Maybe.

I am 100% sure there is a life insurance component to this strategy, but I do not remember the strategy name or the details. Visit for 10 minutes and find out! Give a disposable email. The worst case, unless you decide to "invest" in which case good luck to ya, is you end up on various mailing lists.

Just add them to your spam / junk / block email list especially if that email was not solicited as in you never contacted before in your life.

Scam. Could be one of those "market linked GICs" basically a LEAP options play with a load of fees tacked on. Best case!

He's scummy and an a-hole but completely legal. This doesn't sound legal at all, no way you can put together a set of instruments that provide 40% downside protection and 125% of gains on an index. Most probably a ponzi scheme. As @bone said, check if they're registered, if not then they aren't legit. If so, they should probably be reported.
