Qichen Zhang couldn’t believe what she was hearing. The technical specialist was in the middle of the office at Google when a white male colleague began joking with her about her hiring. “He said, ‘It must’ve been really easy for you to get your job because you’re an Asian woman and people assume you’re good at math,’” Zhang recalled in a recent interview. “It was absolutely stunning. I remember me just emotionally shutting down.” Whole article here: https://www.theguardian.com/technol...google-memo-racism-sexism-discrimination-quit
Poor thing. Had her feelings hurt. Good grief! Seems all the young people have become conditioned/educated to be overly sensitive and pussy-fied. She needs to grow a thicker skin... if she wants to cope with life's vagaries, that is.
More money to share among the normal ones then. Extremes of left and right are both incredible idiots.
White males must learn never to use the words "woman" and "math" in the same sentence. Paragraph even. You have committed an egregious PC violation either way, by assuming women are either good or not good at math. Everyone is above average at everything but no better than anyone else.
I imagine her being told to smile for the photo, "I am smiling". It is not just Asian women though. Remember Harold's dilemma in "Harold & Kumar go to Whitecastle" where the white guys dump all their work on Harold? Then eventually we got to here..
To me, this is a case of typically poor communications skills in nerdville. The white guy was obviously trying to hit on the hot Asian chick but his game was weak. Either he was out of his league or she was just looking for trouble, who knows?
An old girlfriend of mine, an ultra-hot Tutsi Rwandan who studied in Cambridge came home spitting feathers one day. She was working in Bournemouth, England and an English IT guy asked, in all innocence, "With such dark skin.... how do you know when you are dirty?". It could have been a pickup line, but no.... There are a lot of colours of the autistic spectrum in IT.
If you Google her name, you will find she is highly educated and successful in her career so far. It would actually be far more appropriate to be criticizing the manifesto guy then her. You might want to ask yourself why you and other posters are quick to condemn a young women who was unsure how to handle sexism in the workplace versus the Damore guy who basically imploded because he had to attend some seminars.
