    Hi,

I've just rescued HP Z440 workstation that has no video. I have had all members of NVS line and still have NVS 510 running in an older machine. I have 1 QHD monitor, sometimes run 2 (not for trading actually). May go to UHD in a distant future, if the current ones are dead... not sure. I am very happy with my 27" QHD sets right now. Is there anything that is quieter and cooler than my NVS cards please? This is Xeon E5-1650 v4 - no onboard video, 64GB RAM

My current trading machine is an old HP Z620 with the oldest boot record with 64GB of RAM, and it keeps me very happy. The only thing I replaced at its 10-year mark were the quiet fans from the mfg.

    Thank you in advance

  2. The NVS 510 is still good for you in all but a high-performance/gaming application and The 510 will run 4x, UHD monitors. Closest upgrades to the 510 are Quadro P620 and Quadro T600.

All current lines of Nvidia workstation class cards have a cooling fan.

Those NVS cards seem to have the tiny noisy fans, I'd rather get something like a Radeon RX 6600XT if you don't need CUDA. They seem to be low power and cool.

Noctua manufactures all sizes of fans, market leading in low noise fans. Also you might consider a voltage reduction cable to lower the rpms. Those gpus don't get stressed by any fair amount. Anyway I would rather just invest a few dollars than buying those huge gpus to put into an old rig

Am pretty sure that the Fan speed of an rx 6600xt is way louder than the one on those tiny nvs 510. I had one some time ago and even ripped off that shitty fan and it never seemed to overheat.

I've had the fans on that NVS, the smaller the fan the higher RPM it needs and thus the noisier it is. Maybe RX6600xt isn't the best choice but from what I can tell at idle or trading usage they'd be off anyway. Zotac GTX1660 seems to be another quiet choice but those fans never idle as per Nvidia BIOS.

I hear you re fan size and rpms but my fan on my nvs 810 is tiny and I have never heard it ever. Nvidia BIOS is a bit weird on some cards when I comes to fan speed, especially mobile gpus in laptops...

I have installed a few Noctua fans in other machines and they are pretty quiet. The workstation fans by mfg are as good if not better. Workstations are engineered and executed very well.
Thank you all for your input, it saved me quite a bit of time.

  9. RX580 you can get used for under $200 and can run 4x 4k monitors. Great for trading, wouldn't be a good choice if using for 4k gaming though.
