exchanges are becoming more vigilant about collecting fees and raising them. is this a signal of a market top? it has the taint of greed which is typical of market tops. warning: in itself it is just one of many signals that might indicate a top, but it is certainly not the ultimate greed signal of a top.

my favorite buy signal of all times was years ago the pakistani exchange was literally flat on its back. to reverse the down trend they slaughtered goats on the floor, as a sacrifice to the gods. the bottom was then in. true story.

it was later confirmed by barton biggs of morgan stanley who took the closed-end stock
fund of Pakistan private right near the bottom. the market then rallied very sharply.

  5. Nope, someone needs to get in touch with @Baron about cleaning out all these bear carcasses. I think a more interesting thread would be, next recession's bottom, above or below today's SPX.

When ETers en mass say it's gonna keep going up, that's about when we hit the top, and I reckon it's about now.

  7. Who's saying it en mass? My observations have been of more bears in the forums than bulls.

Next week will be a small make-or-break moment, with Trump's tax plan. Then there is the inertia of this insidious long, plus the Fed chair decision...This long feels too sustained. Something's gotta' give here.

I think it's a matter of how much time wall street will give the politicians to pass a tax plan. So far earnings have been good (or at least the large companies that I have been watching).

I agree. The markets are still going up on earnings. But something still does not feel right about this bullish insanity. Something is going to give and when it does I do not wish to be there in the long. I lucked out this week...

I will not do it again until after the holidays.

I would be so long, were it not for Mr. Trump. Damnit, I hate what he is doing to the trading economy!
