Is it recommended to use seasonality chart with agriculture products? I mean do ag futures increase repeatedly in certain months every year? (I'm new in ag)
I trade the grains every year. Some years it follows seasonality pretty well and other years not so much. If it followed seasonality all the time everyone would just buy/sell based upon it. Fundamentals are constantly changing. For grains, weather is far more important than seasonality. If Dec. corn should pull back towards 600 area, I'll start scaling in for a swing long into next spring/summer. https://www.seasonalcharts.com/future_farmprodukte_corn.html ***Seasonality charts can be different based upon how many years they use to get the average. 2022 Corn compared to seasonality.
This will not be advice to buy or sell any commodity, this is merely for entertainment purposes If you are interested, I have a story for the seasonal grain traders , like yourself A story that is a little Chutzpa, a little sage advice, a lot about seasonality and a very entertaining take on Grain trading that every serious grain trader can find a little comfort in: Voice From The Tomb History This is the legend of a wise grain trader that made a fortune trading "seasonals" in the pits of the Chicago Board of Trade. "After his wife died, a millionaire grain trader dedicated his life to raising their children. The children were lazy and thought they'd inherit all of their father's money. He felt that his children were wasteful and believed they took him for granted. When he died, all the money went to charity. All he left them in his will were the following dates of when to buy and sell. The will said that if they strictly followed his advice, they'd have the fortunes they always thought were going to drop in their laps." read the rest..... https://www.voicefromthetomb.com/
%% THAT sounds about right\ corn may bottom around harvest time[AUG+ SEPT+/ in US, not in Argentina or So America]. But really \i wonder what the chances of most anyone, especially a beginner out/trading ADM................................................................?? NOT very good chances a@ all. MOO has ADM in it, but would not be near as thrilling as losing big bucks in futs. That old grain trader in Sucessful Farming MAGAzine uses seasonals +common sense like scaling out selling over months, but he is a 30+ trader, i assume he is still living. Most likely one of the main reasons PT Jones bought a farm , but thats just a wise guess He likes to hunt ducks also, so more than one good reason
