Good Thing: EVs CAN BE A BARGAIN. Looking at the cost to buy EVs on the market, you might say they aren't such a great deal. But add in the gov't rebates, and it becomes much sweeter. As people who leased their EV, we put $2,500 down for our Leaf but got all of that money back from the California Vehicle Rebate Project. Plus, our monthly lease payment, a little over $200, is mostly offset by the following huge savings.

We got our electric car, a Nissan Leaf, a few months ago, but don’t ask me too much about how it performs since I spend much of my driving time nervous about the car’s battery charge as it drops toward zero.

I’m sure the AC works great, but won’t that drain the car’s charge that much faster? Instead, I’ll just roll down the window. And dare I charge my phone in the car? Tough call. It drains the battery, but I do want to be able to contact a tow truck when I run out of charge somewhere in Martinez.
