She was 2 and had some medical issues. She let me hold her and looked at me like she wanted to come home with me. She sat on my lap and held onto my arm as I drove home. She ran and climbed up the Christmas Tree when I opened the door. She chased a sandwich wrapper for hours when I would throw it. She climbed into bed every night and exposed her belly for me to scratch. She would move away after I drifted off so I didn't roll and smash her (smart girl). She laid on my lap when I watched Breaking Bad. She laid on the back of my chair with her weight against my neck when I watched Hannity. She was visible in the glass doorway when I drove up the driveway. She was at the back door when I opened it and came in from playing golf. She met my face when I leaned down to give her a kiss. She let me carry her to doctor's appointments and never once complained. She accepted medications without wincing. She would come and ask for syringe help at the same time each day. She ate ice cream with me on Friday. She was our best friend. Monday----She left and went home.

One evening I'm sitting at my desk looking at charts and my wife comes in with a very small kitten...fit in my shirt pocket. I wanted nothing to do with it, did not like the idea of having a pet. In the end, I relented. My wife says, "there's just one thing, can you come downstairs with me?"
Downstairs is her sister holding the kitten's brother. It was a mess, eyes were closed shut from mucus, looked half dead. So we end up with 2 cats, Jack & Arnie (we were both golfers). And now you know how my nic came about. At his prime Arnie was a 23 pound Tiger stripe tabby that would take down squirrels. Jack was so protective we once had a policeman knock on the door one evening. Officer describes a guy walking his dog in front of our house and a cat springs out from a ditch and attacks his dog. Cop just laughed when we went, "Oh, that's Jack!". Another time Jack jumped on the back of my neighbors Lab, sent him crying home. I have dozens of stories like that.
They have both gone to kitty heaven, but it was amazing how attached you can get to a pet.

    Sorry for your loss B1S2

  7. That's a touching story though, how quickly we get attached to them.
