'ello there, There used to be a setting that allowed me to set the number of displayed posts per page, which I found useful, especially when reading long threads. I don't see that setting in my account preferences anymore. Has it been moved somewhere else? Thanks.
That's unfortunate. There are many 100+ page threads, and the way I read them is to visually scan the page to quickly filter out the garbage, and focus on the content that I find interesting. Since the ratio of garbage-to-content is about 10:1, I find myself clicking the "next" link every 10 seconds. That's just not ergonomic.
I understand. When there are many users browsing the site with a setting of 40 posts or 50 posts per page, we would often have problems with server slowdown and overload because the size of a page with that many posts on it gets to be huge when a lot of the posts contain big charts and other large images.
40 posts per page was a nice setting Considering the 10 posts per page limitation. Would it be possible to have the Page navigation buttons added to the top of the page? Typical behavior is New/Recent posts, click on last post, then scroll up to read what else was posted prior to it. Then you have to scroll down to the bottom of the page again to go back a page. Page Navigation buttons Top and Bottom seems a good compromise. {These} ---> < Prev 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Next 10>
Second this, scrolling to get to navigation is getting really old. The New Posts page has navigation top and bottom, really don't see why threads can't have the same. if still dead set on not having that, be the first site to have a Back to Bottom button at the top.
Just wanted to follow up in this thread to let you know that page navigation is now at the top of the page as well.
Thank you, Baron. I recall you being adamantly against this, but you must have given in. What a softie you're becoming in your old age.
