Trump has made two choices which confuse me. His media guy and Sessions. Bad optics. Not Trumps style. His spokesman must be somebody's nephew and I don't know for sure what he owes Sessions.
You raise good points. I concluded he picked Sessions because he was an obvious sycophant. I think Trump is totally convinced he is a wonderful person and all his ideas, even if fleeting, are wonderful. So why not reward people who recognize that. Of course Trump doesn't realize he (Trump) has a mental disorder. All or species' most productive and valuable people have been those who stayed in touch with their own fallibility. Once that connection is lost we have a dangerous person among us.
He was probably Trump's first big name supporter. You may think he is a joke but he has a huge fan club. He's as close to untouchable as any appointee.

So skip it? Skimmed thru the gist of it and didn't see much that popped up. I watched the Comey hearing in full but this one seems much less entertaining.
