  1. SUMMER OF LOVE CONTINUES

The Seattle Police Department announced on Friday that residents and business owners are essentially on their own, after the City Council banned the use of pepper spray and other 'less lethal tools' to disperse crowds.

"Simply put, the legislation gives officers NO ability to safely intercede to preserve property in the midst of a large, violent crowd," reads a letter from Seattle Chief of Police, Carmen Best - who added that thanks to the City Council, "Seattle Police will have an adjusted deployment in response to any demonstrations this weekend."

This is where you see the start of private armed security (militia) hired by merchants. A trend that will be seen country-wide if this continues.

  4. Yes, and when I posted on that way back, I said that there will be unsavory games there too, ie. a return to the old protection rackets of chicago and new york and elsewhere. I stand by that.

You might be a merchant and not even perceive the need or want to hire protection because you have not been looted or threated. Oh really? Well, when Kyrone and LaVonn come by to get your monthly contribution to the Neighborhood Security Patrol, y'all better dig deep and pay up or you will- just by coincidence- be vandalized soon. Yep. It's back to the future with some of this stuff.

Walking a thin line here, local police are commissioned by the local incorporating municipalities. Their jurisdiction is inside the city/incorporation’s limits, unlike the Sheriff who is a duly elected official of a county or parish that deputizes his/hers officers.

Private security abides by neither of the legally recognized authority of law enforcement.

Not sure how castle law will apply here.

Maybe the local Sheriff can deputize the private security, similar to an old posse.
