Pretty non teckie person here. I know many of the basics...But time is passing me by. I'm going on 67 and I am average for my age, when it comes to computers/phones. My power drops on my phone quite a bit. It's a cheap prepaid android phone. It has internet, but aside from Google, Google Maps, Uber, I really don't need anything else. For about 15 years I would carry a flip phone, just like Warren Buffett!! I have no intentions of moving to Apple. I use the internet part maybe once every 4-6 months!! A phone tech guy told me to start deleting apps I am not using. Friends also mentioned shutting off apps I do not intend to use. Thoughts on how to get back to basics...To save battery life. Any Youtube videos that you find helpful in getting rid of the power drainers... Thanks...
That's easy. Just turn off Cell-phone cellular data, and turn it on when you need to connect to the net. What you are getting is the parasitic drain from the apps constantly connecting to the net for whatever reasons, like location data. It is the data transfer that drains it, not the apps themselves active in the memory. (Although they do drain a bit of power. But it is the comms that suck up the bulk of the battery current.) I do that on my iphone, because when I am not out and about on battery, I do not need to have the 4GTE whatever active.
Well sure. Just use it on a WIfi connection at home while it is plugged in. (Or not plugged in. When at home you can have it plugged in) But the point is, while on the road, just keep the cell data off until you need it when on the road.
