San Fransicans still pay the nation's highest rents
Rent has decreasedin some San Francisco neighborhoods, but it still remains the most expensive city for renters in the nation, according to the site Zumper. Overall, rents in the city decreased by 4.6 percent in 2016, but one-bedroom apartments still go for $3,336 a month and two-bedrooms for nearly $4,500.(San Francisco Weekly)

I like San Francisco at lot, but not enough to pay that for a shoebox apartment. If I had $4,500 to blow on rent, I'd much rather live in a hotel. There are plenty of downtown hotels for $150 per night, and I'd get daily room service with that.

Here in Orlando, the range for apartments is from $1,200 to about $2,500.

The median price still stood at over $1 million in three counties (San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin), at $942,000 in Santa Clara County and at $680,000 in Alameda County. If this was a leveling, it didn’t bring much relief to middle-class buyers caught up in the housing crisis.
Consumer resistance had set in by spring. In the fall, a variety of analysts declared that rents were actually falling. Yet with an average apartment still renting for $2,500 in San Jose, $2,927 in Oakland and $3,499 in San Francisco, plenty of renters threw up their hands.
