Picked up a pair of feather light sporting/outdoors sunglasses, can imagine would make me forget was wearing them, lol, and another pair for more casual, suits, etc., Question I have is any of you own Maui Jim in a Rx lens? I'm wanting to keep the lenses identical in color as what I have now, and want polarized as is now. Am sure all the different eye wear places in my area will sell me the super radiation proof lol, extreme coating to make look this way, or coating for that way, the combination of both, and am sure there's much more. Any suggestions on where you'd get the lenses, and well..just any other suggestions appreciated. As a wop, I do love the one's on the bottom having been made in Italy And to get an idea of lens colors if my phone cam didn't get good pics: These are the one's on top: http://www.mauijim.com/shop/en/us/mens-sunglasses/hookipa?showImage=407-02 And the tan/brown on the bottom: http://www.mauijim.com/shop/en/us/mens-sunglasses/keanu?showImage=271-17M And sorry, "Matte Chocolate - Orange / HCL™ Bronze" lol
All high-end sunglasses tend to be made in Italy and lenses made in Japan. I have good vision (20/10 now 20/16) but I have friends with Rx MJs. Their lab is excellent and is located in Peoria, IL. They can handle your script there. My kids wear sunglasses at the beach and when playing outside. I get them Native-brand when they're old enough to wear them. Super-light and wrap-around. I have a couple Maui and just recently bought these Dillon Optics: http://www.dillonoptics.com/shop/metal-frames/drake/silver-nir-lens/drake-ss-s.html
Hadn't heard of Dillon til' now. Looks like quality stuff. And the anodized black frames, I wonder if I could get away with: http://www.dillonoptics.com/shop/metal-frames/colt.html Guess I need to get away from too many of the same look. Have Maui Jim Aviators, as the only thing that looks different. Now here's my problem: The lenses are gonna cost $500 per pair of sunglasses! Wanted to do all three, but looks like I'll wear contacts more often, or spend the $ on one pair. I do hear the Rx lenses are a home run. Just won't be tying up $1,500 in lenses as I do plan to do lasik. Been putting it on the backburner, due to fear of something screwing up. I'm sure there are some outrageously priced shades out there, but the cheapest I'd have would total $700 lenses and frames.. Will do one pair, but that's it. You have Lasik done? And are we the only two wearing sunglasses here? Lol! Smart to block the UV's from the kids eyes at an early age!
$500 for scrip lenses is very high, you must have a major scrip -5 +5 or greater. Go with Zeiss lenses, the best by far. I know a little about it from experience but my scrip is 2,25 so lenses are not near as expensive--- I am considering Lasik-it's become very affordable and I figure if its good enough for Tiger Woods...... but I have this irrational fear about cutting my eyes so I hesitate. 1. Alain Mikli-Acetate Zeiss 2. Cartier wood/silver--Zeiss 3 Chrome Hearts Penetration buffalo horn--Zeiss 4. Oakley for driving/shooting-- basic scrip lens 5. Oakley Riddle -- boating/fishing/jet skiing polarized
Could get away with the one's in the middle- the Zeiss. And no, Rx is like -0.75 or so. An 20/75. At the moment am Am canceling a wasteful trip out of the Country in Dec, and looking to schedule this wave, all laser Lasik surgery Friend of mine just had.* Am sick of contacts, and Rx glasses and sunglasses. Plus, would be a trip to get below 20/20. Wanted to fly jets way back, and Lasik wasn't allowed then. Timing... And haven't heard much about the Zeiss, but do own a few rifle scopes by Carl's company. Will have to say, for the $, I'm having a tough time beating the Maui Jim's. Am ordering this pair this week, as the stores didn't have the gun metal grey with the Maui HT green (ish) lens: http://www.mauijim.com/shop/en/us/mens-sunglasses/olowalu And these in the same lens. I REALLY like that lens! It flattens the bright eye strain, but brightens colors like I can't really describe. And yead, bad description, but tried, lol. Next time you pass a shades store, try on some with the Maui HT lenses.. * Never, EVER lift heavy weights post Lasik surgery..
^ Blood vessels in eyes and the heavy weight training, ie., bp going ^ lol! Guaranteed to cause shades worn for a week plus.. lol!
Sorry, these also in same HT lens http://www.mauijim.com/shop/en/us/mens-sunglasses/peahi Have a pair now that my Son "helped" with by a lens now missing. Was grey lens, so will see if they'll let me buy two HT lenses, and they install them. Storefront guy says they're $60. Somehow I wonder after the outrageous price MJ charges. Found out their lenses are sent to the stores, and ONLY MJ lenses can be used for warranty reasons. Apparently, the Rx lenses are bad ass from what I've been told by others. But yes, they're min $400 into the $500's per pair...
That matte lens is bad ass. How do u compare these to a good pair of MJ's lenses? And here's a short clip. Looks like good quality:
