What an odd world we live in these days, when the Secretary of Defense and the military has the multiple roles of: 1. Winning a war 2. Processing a successful P.R. campaign. 3. Providing humanitarian and relief efforts to civilians who might just be walking up to you with a suicide bomb attached to themselves. It ain't and easy task. Why can't we just win the damn war, and deal with the rest of this nonsense after the war. The sooner we ignore world opinion, and just get the job done, the sooner we can begin the real job of re-construction. World opinion is against us no matter what we do, so fuck em. If Iraq ends up being a better place, if we prove we were right in the first place, that will silence world opinion---at least those in this world who have an open mind. Those who are just weak, jealous, fearful, irrational, America haters, etc, why bother? They will never be satisfied. That Rumsey or others have made errors, so what? Like other people don't make errors at a time of war? The issue in my mind is how quickly are the mistakes corrected and progress made to finish the job. If we underestimated the resistance, fine. Just increase the pressure. The only thing that matters to me, is finishing the job as soon as possible, with as little bloodshed as is reasonably possible. The rest is just bullshit and noise.
