  1. Bush Torture Defender Suggests Obama Should Be Impeached Over Bergdahl

Former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey on Sunday defended President Barack Obama's constitutional authority to exchange five Taliban prisoners of war for U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, but suggested that Obama should be impeached anyway.

"He broke the law, but I believe that the law itself is unconstitutional," Mukasey said, referring to Obama's apparent failure to give Congress 30 days' notice before approving the prisoner exchange. "Article II [of the U.S. Constitution] makes him commander in chief of the armed forces. These people were in the custody of the armed forces."

While many Republicans have decried Obama's actions as illegal, saying he violated the 30-day notification statute, Mukasey said that the statute itself is not legitimate.

"It's unconstitutional, and Obama said so at the time that he signed it," Mukasey said.

Nevertheless, Mukasey suggested that Congress could still impeach the president for agreeing to release five Taliban prisoners of war in exchange for Bergdahl, saying that elected officials do not need to commit crimes to be impeached.

For The Record: Bowe Bergdahl’s Father Is A Republican

He’s being called a Muslim, a traitor and a Taliban sympathizer, and getting threats because of conservative anger about the deal made for the release of his son. As it turns out, Bob Bergdahl is a Republican. The Daily Beast reported:

In June 2010, Robert Bergdahl, the father of released American POW Bowe Bergdahl, gave a speech at an Idaho Republican Party fundraiser. In one of his first public appearances during his son’s five-year captivity, he asked the conservative audience to show compassion for his son’s captors—and, in a twist that foretold the plot of Homeland—he alleged that the United States had killed one of those captor’s children with a drone strike…

“I grew up in a conservative family in Los Angeles,” he said with a smile. “My father was for Goldwater. He wore a Nixon button in our liberal Jewish neighborhood. I was the lone U.C. Santa Barbara surfer who voted for Ronald Reagan.” Many in the audience nodded in approval, and then Bergdahl talked about the work of retrieving his son.

  3. LOL! OH the lengths they'll go to defending Dear Leader. Hey, I heard Jefferson had slaves. How that's relevant to this story I have no idea, but let's keep changing the story and soon enough the short attention span voter will be on to something else. Been working for 6 years. Why stop now?

She's just repeating her emailed talking points. I'm sure it goes somewhat like this: "To distract from Obama's gitmo releases, bring up a President from 30 years ago to talk about a now irrelevant action that no one remembers."

Politicians sometimes throw around quotes from Kennedy, too. That doesn't mean he's relevant. You and your email talking points could be thrown on every station and news outlet out there (and likely will with this joke media) and it still won't take the heat off the idiot in the White House you're all cheerleading for.

Cheer up - you have a front row seat to the implosion of the Obama presidency (and the train wreck that just might be the democratic mid-terms).

lets not forget about recent proof that after a tax increase you get a quarter of negative gdp... so far.

yeah we have an anemic recovery, lets turn to the democrat brain trust / propagandists and ask them what to do... They know, lets raise taxes and steal more money from the productive people. That should give the economy a real boost. We can have the fed spend a trillion dollars a year trying to get the economy moving... by ... devaluing the dollar and crushing the standard of the middle class. So we will use the opportunity to impose a series of tax increases.

This is the economic plan convertibility cheerleads. Could leftist drones be any less intelligent?
Yeah... lets improve the economy by imposing more taxes.
