Contributing over 3,600 high-quality posts here since 2004, long-time member Alex Jacobson (ajacobson) passed away peacefully at 72-years-old on Friday May 2nd, 2025 in a room filled with his family. He waited for all of his loved ones to make it into town to wish him well on his next stage of life. He was battling complications from a recent Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis.

Alex was part of the Exitos Global Capital Group, the Chicago Stock Exchange and a Vice President for OptionsXpress. His time at the International Securities Exchange as a Vice President for Education lasted over 10 years. Alex worked at the CBOE from 1985-2000 with his most recent role being the Vice President of Business Development. He was a big part of the brokerage community and was involved in the growth of the Options Industry Council. Prior to that, Alex worked at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith, Inc.

Alex traveled the world, creating bonds with people across the globe. His love of shopping and eating was always in full force. He spent countless hours with his family on trips to Disney creating memories that will be cherished forever. Alex's love of watches and the study of time will continue to be passed down to future generations. He had a passion for all things automotive and frequently attended car meets.

Alex was a shining light for everyone he interacted with, and without a doubt he will be missed, loved and appreciated by his family, friends, and this community forever.

  2. Thank you for letting us know. Alex was a class act, a good man, humble and always willing to share his knowledge over the years. That was my experience with him.
