When I go to evaluate a company that I may want to buy, I am reconsidering many things. A couple years ago I bought EVgo (EVGO). Yeah, great concept (grow charging stations around the US). It was a start up company (with large debt and labor costs), but I thought it could grow through those obstacles. What I didn't see is at their charging stations, was copper wiring. With many EV charging locations in liberal states, I didn't catch on, that if people mess with a charger (strip it for it's wiring), they may just get a ticket and go to community service (if that). I got out of the company and took my loss. Rite Aid is in the same boat. They can't control theft. Yeah, they will put in the security guards (who can't touch anyone). It is a losing situation (that will not be resolved quickly). Costco is a membership model with people in the entrance and exit for both keeping the criminal element out, and to provide loss prevention. Labor...I still wonder if Starbucks will unionize. With people having less disposable income (because of inflation), unionization is a real possibility... I now just use a different optic frame to view a company...
The way I look at it electric vehicles is a good concept but might take decades to work out all the bugs. That's why I'm not investing money in the concept right now.
https://tinyurl.com/45nsdprb The top three charging stations: EVGO is down 57% over 2 years, CHPT is down 67% and BLNK is down 82%. For comparison, SPY is down 0.3%. I think you simply picked the wrong sector to invest in and are looking for someone else to blame. Do some basic research beforehand. Stocks in new technologies (Internet, AI, nanotech, etc) are almost always very overpriced until the market knows how to really evaluate their earnings potential.
%% TAN[solar sector] had some supertrends also /great supertrends; but lousy , late 3 year trends may hurt them a lot??Dont know; we do know\ESG=woke=broke WOW, good points i thought EVGO may do well on left coast + it may?? Copper , oil, SPY + QQQ benchmarks brass may do better, long term; in my region they have a 5 day hold on copper cash\great thief killer No EV sales i have seen here + no charging stations @ all here . TSLA,GM,F RACE may buy them, but BP oil had such lousy ESG type sales; if it takes 100 years let some one else spec on that one as far as i'm concerned. I'm also shocked BP[Boone Pickens Plan] for nat gas for cars never really took off, but live + learn. Boone Pickens plan sounds much better than EV, but see what happens 50 years??
Rite Aid was over $40. in June 2018... Day's Range 2.0500 - 2.1700 52 Week Range 2.0500 - 11.6100 EPS (TTM)-13.3300 What's wrong with this picture??
See what DaveV said about EVGO and apply it to drug store chains. WBA and CVS and RAD all down big. Past performance yada yada.
%% Strange, but gasoline under $5.00= good\ stocks priced under $5 are priced lower as'' penny stocks'' Even though Rich dennis said ''do your own research'' I do. But i glance other stuff like SCHW Market Edge rated ''avoid...200dma =$4.95'' Good move in 1998, but on stocks/ETFs\i like to get paid more than once in every 2o-25 years A 200 day ma seems like a good border or fence, generally speaking; a boy got killed today in Gaza,by a lion ,in the zoo. Sorry he had no respect for risk,risk/reward. [Many of tech stocks never went below $5.00 it just seems that way on charts, because of many splits]
Amazing how you could create an entire thread and turn it in the very first post from stock investing into politics.
