Federal judge will temporarily block Biden administration from lifting Title 42 https://news.yahoo.com/federal-judge-temporarily-blocks-biden-215939611.html A federal judge said he will temporarily block the Biden administration from ending the Trump-era Title 42 policy that expels migrants from the United States’ borders to avoid the spread of COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Protection announced in April that the policy would be rescinded on May 23. In a lawsuit brought by 21 Republican-led states, U.S. District Judge Robert Summerhays of Louisiana said in a notice on Monday that he will grant a temporary restraining order blocking the end of Title 42. Summerhays was appointed by former President Donald Trump. "For the reasons stated on the record, the Court announced its intent to grant the motion," the notice said. "The parties will confer regarding the specific terms to be contained in the Temporary Restraining Order and attempt to reach agreement." The CDC on April 1 said it was ending Title 42 because it was "no longer necessary" after "considering current public health conditions and an increased availability of tools to fight COVID-19." Former President Donald Trump created the policy, known as Title 42, to protect the public health in 2020. Since coming into office, the Biden administration has embraced it under the same justification, denying critics' assertions they are using it to curb immigration. The ruling comes as Republicans and some moderate Democrats have called on the Biden administration to delay ending the policy. Title 42 is still currently being used on the ground until May 23. It's unclear whether the judge's rule will delay the Biden administration's plan to end the policy. "BREAKING NEWS: In a lawsuit originally filed by Missouri, Louisiana, and Arizona, our Office just obtained a temporary restraining order to keep Title 42 in place. This is a huge victory for border security, but the fight continues on," Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt wrote in a tweet. The Justice Department declined to comment on the judge's notice.
Just curious, but have you switched your previous view that migrants weren't bringing COVID into the country?
Did the migrants bring more Covid into the country than all the international travelers coming into all the airports? Keep in mind that most migrants caught Covid when they were detained in facilities in the U.S. rather than bringing it over the border.
I notice you avoided the actual question. I'm asking someone who was so rabid about COVID restrictions on all fronts if he now believes COVID came in from people coming across the border. I'm not asking as a comparison of others who came in via other locations, just if you changed your mind that migrants brought in COVID. I ask because you are on record saying that migrants weren't bringing in specific variants of COVID, as if you somehow had the magical ability to know this.
Are you going to push the false talking point that illegal immigrants are primarily responsible for spreading Covid in the United States?
No, nor have I ever. But you are certainly on the record for saying specific COVID variants weren't coming in from immigrants. Should we dig up those posts? The very reason you're not saying "I never said that" or "Show me where I said that" is because you know you did. And now you're showing how wrong you were. Again.
Feel free to. By memory the dominant Covid variant in Mexico at the time was different than the dominant variant in the United States -- the vast majority of the illegal immigrants were found to have the Covid variant common in the U.S., which of course means they likely caught Covid in the U.S. while in a detention facility. You should also remember that the most testing population for Covid in the U.S. at the time were the illegal immigrants.
Right, that was part of the argument - you claiming that only Mexicans came in through the border, when the border control folks provided data decidedly different. You were wrong about that, too.
Yet... you were claiming all these immigrants from Asia, etc. were coming over the border of Mexico at the time when travelers were restricted from flying to Mexico -- and U.S. government numbers show nearly none of these nationalities crossing the border during this time during the pandemic. Border control figures from 2019 on non-Mexican nationalities who must fly to Mexico (e.g. Indians) are meaningless during the peak of the pandemic in 2020/21 when travel from most of these countries into Mexico was minimal.
What I claimed (which was correct, of course) was that Indians - where the Delta variant was prevalent - were coming in over the southern border. You claimed this was not true. Border patrol data showed it was. Do you deny this? Just answer the question, NPC.
