Former Republican CIA and FBI heads join with 70 national security officials to endorse Joe Biden

The intelligence community appears to be rejecting another term of President Donald Trump.

Reuters reported Thursday afternoon that the former Republican CIA and FBI chiefs will join 70 national security officials in endorsing former Vice President Joe Biden in his bid for the presidency.

The report explained that the group is “launching a scathing indictment” of Trump, calling him corrupt and unfit to do the job.

“The 73-strong group includes retired General Michael Hayden, who served as national security director and head of the CIA; William Webster, the only man to serve as both head of the CIA and FBI; John Negroponte, the first director of National Intelligence; Michael Leiter, former director of the National Counterterrorism Center; and Mike Donley, former Air Force secretary,” said Reuters.

“Trump has demonstrated that he lacks the character and competence to lead this nation and has engaged in corrupt behavior that renders him unfit to serve as president,” they said in a statement that will appear in a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal Friday.

“We have concluded that Donald Trump has failed our country and that Vice President Joe Biden should be elected the next President of the United States,” it goes on.

Makes sense. His policies align with exactly what domestic intelligence agencies want. Full and absolute control of everyone:

    On housing:

On internet privacy, spying, and data:

    On internet speech:

Don't forget his ties to the infamous 1994 crime bill.

    He supported segregation.

Joe Biden is in bed with the chicoms and a friend of the intelligence agencies. He wants to regulate free speech on the internet. Any time an intelligence agency endorses a candidate it's time to run for the hills. Especially a candidate like Joe Biden who seems to want to make committing a crime as easy as walking outside.

Or maybe these individuals see Trump as someone who would sellout our spies just to suck Putin’s dick.

The CIA isn't a domestic intelligence agency. And the FBI wants to control people through housing policy?

These are all retired officials, not an agency endorsement. An agency endorsement would be inappropriate and violate the Hatch act. Yet you're fine with an active police organization endorsing Trump.

Surely you're aware that net neutrality is about actions by private corporations and has nothing to do with spying or control of people by the government.

I could post a slew of links showing Trump's terrible policies in all the areas you mentioned, like how he wants to "close up the internet" (working with Bill Gates!), let ISPs sell browsing history, repealed net neutrality, or revoke section 230. But the point isn't that you disagree with Biden on particular policies. I certainly do, and I would bet many of these officials do as well.

Trump fundamentally undermines our democracy. You've responded to that with (inconsistent) policy nitpicks.

Don’t forget that the FBI and CIA were complicit in spying on the Trump campaign. There are a lot of people who performed illegal acts in 2016 and beyond in our IC.
Another 4 years of Trump and they will be hammered.

I've never said Trump was fundamentally good for the country.

I just pointed out that Biden is fundamentally worse.

If the choice is between a maverick who might dismantle the country, and a maverick who is on record with 40 years of policy for dismantling the country, I think I'll go with Trump. Trump is consistently inconsistent with his application of policy and that roll of the dice is far safer than the guy who probably forgets to change his diapers.

  9. The FBI has caught on to this crooked administration . . . . they kept this traitor in the dark of their investigations.

DOJ ‘firewall’ prevented Bill Barr from knowing of Bannon indictment

Attorney General Bill Barr two months ago fired former Southern District of New York prosecutor Geoffrey Berman, who only agreed to step down after he was assured that deputy Audrey Strauss would take over his job in an acting role.

On Thursday morning, it was Strauss who announced that charges had been filed against former Trump White House official Steve Bannon for his role in allegedly defrauding donors to a crowdfunding campaign to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Appearing on MSNBC, legal analyst Glenn Kirschner was asked by host Stephanie Ruhle whether Barr knew that the indictment of Bannon was imminent.

“It depends on how covert the prosecutors of the Southern District of New York wanted to be,” he said. “Sometimes, Stephanie, when we’re getting ready to indict somebody or unseal an indictment, we want to hold our cards very close to our chest.”

Kirschner then said it was possible that DOJ officials put up a “firewall” that would have blocked Barr from knowing about the case on the grounds that he had already interfered to lower the sentencing guidelines of Trump ally Roger Stone and to drop charges against former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Trump is inconsistent on policy, but consistent on dismantling the country. What exactly in Biden's platform is going to destroy democratic institutions?
