Report: San Jose landlords are 'cashing in on renters' A new Silicon Valley housing report points a critical eye toward landlords in San Jose, many of whom advocacy groups claim are taking advantage of and displacingthe city's poorest rentersfor their own financial gain. The report, releasedWednesday, comes out just in time for an important San Jose City Council vote slated for next week that would help implement stronger protections for renters in the city.(Silicon Valley Business Journal)

Market forces will eventually even things out, similar events happened pre-Credit Crisis then events brought them back reality....
Sometimes markets get out of whack but eventually there is reversion to mean, it may take some time but eventually it will get there....
Ya and the fed/gov can distort things for a long time...But to think the gov should step in on behalf of renters is ridiculous. That didn't work in NYC.. basically people don't take care of the properties anymore when there are rent controls.. it's a artificial devaluation of the asset because it suppressed income on that asset. It screws the process up
The renters are just as bad as the landlords. I have family (2nd cousins) who have been living in a rent controlled NYC apartment for 50-60 years. Multiple generations have moved in and out while the lease stays in the name of my almost 80 year old uncle . Completely abusing what the system was meant for. This happens way more frequently than you think, but the liberal media never reports on it. Not part of their agenda. Meanwhile the landlord is basically making nothing from them on his investment. But again, nobody cares that the "bad rich guy" is getting screwed.
