Repeated foreign share transfer issues with IBKR

  1. Has any else been having repeated issues with asset transfer of foreign shares using IBKR?

I've been transferring Swedish stock from Computershare to IBKR and IBKR keeps failing to match instructions.

I called today and spent 1 hour on the phone. Phone support wasn't very helpful. Transfers are "back office" and they can't let me talk to them.

I have 4 different transfers over the last year that have had issues. All seem to be from failure to follow up and match transfer instructions on IBKR's end.

Is anyone else using their asset transfer functionality? Do you find it reliable?

  2. Reviving this thread as I still seem to be having issues.

Does anyone know who I call besides first line tech support?

I transfer a block or shares roughly once a month. Sometimes it works, sometimes IBKR drops the transfer on the floor after sitting on it for 2 weeks.

  3. Overnight

    Overnight

Whatever you did to resolve the issue the first time on your own, you should do again.

  4. There is no solo fix for this.

The problem is not on my end. Nor at the sending broker.
IBKR just fails to match the transfer.

Eventually it fails after a couple weeks, at which point I find out.
Absolutely zero communication from IBKR prior indicating a problem with the transfer. They just seem to drop it on the floor.

Initially it took from Feb 2021 to June 2021 to get a single transfer to work.

Then they started messing up again in November 2021. Trouble again in Dec 2022. Now trouble again.
I've been running essentially the same transfer monthly.
In every case where they mess up, I have to reach out and start everything over again. It's not an experience which inspires confidence.

I would think that there should be someone at IBKR interested in this situation who can reach out and straighten out whatever's wrong in their back office.
