It is possible to have live stock quotes in Excel by using its native STOCK button in the Data section of the ribbon. The drawback though is it updates the feeds at best every minute. It also often conflicts with other user operations. I tested today the newest version of the Excel Addin XLFeeds and - surprisingly - is capable of displaying auto-refreshed (every second) live quotes of several thousands of stocks without placing a burden on the rest of the spreadsheet. It doesn't cost a lot, but I am wondering if anybody knows about a free solution.
yes many programs can do that no problem been that way for decades. free stuff everywhere consult ant ai or search engine.
Ask your broker. IB have a seperate API download that contains an excel sheet that you can modify. Free of charge.
Are you sure? Can you give me a concrete source that I can use to get live data every second for free? I just asked ChatGPT the following: "Is there any free Excel addin that can display live stock prices on the spreadsheet that are auto updated every second?" I got a response with the following summary: "Yes, there are several free Excel add-ins that can display live stock prices in your spreadsheet. However, updating every second is generally not feasible due to limitations in data sources and Excel's refresh capabilities. Most free add-ins offer updates at intervals ranging from 15 seconds to 5 minutes." Then I got specific suggestions, as follows: 1) Stock Connector: Updates every 15 seconds during market hours. 2) Excel Price Feed: Offers auto-refresh options every 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, etc 3) Stock Tile: First 4 updates occur at 1-minute intervals; subsequent updates at 15-minute intervals 4) Microsoft Excel's Built-in Stock Data Type: Automatically refreshes every 5 minutes. Then I asked ChatGPT about Interactive Brokers. I got the following: To receive real-time market data through the Excel RTD, you must subscribe to the appropriate market data packages. For U.S. equities, the typical subscription is the US Securities Snapshot and Futures Value Bundle, which costs USD 10.00 per month
