    Hi,
I use IB software for about 3 months. Few weeks ago I had to go to work where most of the time I have no access to mobile networks and therefore can't receive verification SMS. Is there a chance to disable SMS verification and get full access to acount with standard login&password only? Because of limited internet speed I am using mobile IB app on Iphone and Ipad.

    Thank you for any advice.

Can’t you use the static printed card or the electronic pin card for 2FA?

Or even the IB key mobile app if you are using your phone anyway...

  3. Yes, there is a possibility to disable two factor authentication (2FA). Of course it comes with lots of warnings and disclaimers when you enable it.
You have to log on to your account management page. Go to user settings. There you will find a setting to change 2FA settings for trading. 2FA will always be required to do web logon.

There's no way I'd agree to the barrage of disclaimers by turning 2FA off on any of my financial accounts!

HobbyTrading , thank you for advice. I wil ldo it only if i have to close some of my positions- I am aware of risk of doing this.

Ryan81 , the problem is that I'm not receiving any notifications from IBKR even after accepting this during installation. With forst opportunity I will reinstall app, maybe that will help. At the moment I can't use pin card because I am away from home for next 2 months and there's no chance to order it.

Thank you guys for your help!

If I recall correctly, the website gives you the option to print out the values from the static 2FA card (e.g. the number challenge/response card)?

  7. I usually have 2FA enabled. However, if I'm away from home over the weekend and don't want my automated trading system get disconnected I disable 2FA in advance. Once I get back home I re-enable it.

What will you do when your mobile phone is broken, lost or stolen and you don't have access to the account because you are not able to authenticate with 2FA? And the market is falling fast and IB support is responding slowly?

Thanks for that. Unfortunatelly I need an SMS to login into page. I am onboard a ship and should be in network range in 2-3 days.

  10. If I were in your situation I would contact IB and ask them to change the 2FA from using SMS to using a card with challenge-response codes.
