  1. hi all,

    i use AVG (free version)

a question about it. it downloads daily updates, i wanted to know: are those updates cumulative, ie, does each update take up 7-8mbs of space and keeps building.

or does each new update overwrite what was downloaded yesterday?

    thx

Updates are cumulative... either overwriting or "adding to". Most days the update is a few hundred K or less.

  4. It really depends. Updates could be many, many different things. Generally updates are "adding" on new virus signatures and other security features, but it is also possible that updates are fixing bugs in the current code or updating code that might be outdated.

It could also be "optimizing" current functionality which could actually mean removing some existing functionality in favor of a "leaner" and more efficient updated version.

Most of the time though, yes, updates are going to increase the memory used.
