Question about the PDT rule

If I buy 1000 shares of XYZ @ 100.00 and sell 500 @ 105.00 and 500 at 110.00 in the same day, does that count as one trade?

 

no that counts as one day trade. Because you had 1 opening transaction of buying 1000 shares. the two sells of 500 each closes that one opening trade.

Bottom line 1 day trade.
