Quantum Entanglement - Instantaneous communication? Wiki: Quantum Entanglement As most have you know the correlation between the particles is instantaneous - distance is not a factor. The implications of this is enormous. If scientists/physicists could alter the state of the entangled particle then information could be passed through the universe instantly to the other entangled particle. NASA could communicate with its rovers in real-time. Radio waves take up to 40 minutes round-trip to Mars and back, 10 hours for Pluto. Quantum Entanglement Communication would be zero time. Of course Einstein says nothing can go faster than the speed of light - including information. Any comments?
Well, at least until now, it is not possible to take advantage of superposition. We cannot use it to send information signals faster than the speed of light through space. Doesn't mean we won't find a way in the future (especially if we find some other "medium" than space that is not bound by relativity. In Star Trek, they call it "sub-space"), but for now this is impossible. There are three [related] concepts that the general public loves to talk about when it comes to QMs: SUPERPOSITION, INTERFERENCE AND DECOHERENCE http://www.physicsoftheuniverse.com/topics_quantum_superposition.html To me, currently one the most interesting (I go back and forth) is how the classical world arises from an indeterminate quantum world, or DECOHERENCE, or mathematically that classical reality are the eigenvalues of quantum eigenvectors: http://www.physics.drexel.edu/~tim/open/main/node2.html But the most bizarre example of QMs is Wheeler's Delayed Choice Experiment. Nothing even comes close to beating it for strangeness imo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheeler's_delayed_choice_experiment This suggests once again, that time is an emergent property and not a fundamental property of the universe, or that QMs and General Relativity is incomplete, or my favorite, that neither GR or QMs is not a theory of space-time, but an emergent property of it. We are using the wrong language and math to describe space-time, no wonder we get into weird contradictions! For example, Quantum Gravity is an oxymoron.
The current popular conception of entanglement's origin is rather questionable because it comes from new age hippies financed by EST (Erhard Sensitivity Training) back in the 1960s and 1970s. See amusing book "How the Hippies Saved Physics" by David Kaiser. See David Bohm's philosophy (not physics) book "Causality and Chance in Modern Physics" that shows entanglement is meaningless philosophy. Paul Feyerabend's example is: If the standard meter definition is changed in Paris, the size of everything immediately changes.
