put call expired in the money without underlying options to call

  1. I jsut realized one of my put calls are expired today with stock price as a last ~29$ SMCI however strike is 40$ so it is in the money.
Currently, after hours, it is showing as a total loss (0$ value) however I hope/assume it is error in display. I usually sell long before expiration, however this time i did not realize, and dont have underlying. What will brokerage do?

    - will they force me to sell stocks so that those are exercised and I have short positions?
    - do i have to do manually the above (buying at ~29$ on Monday and selling at 40$)?
    thx

    Put call?

We're going to need more information. Were you long the 40 put? It's likely showing $0 as it will be automatically exercised. Normally it wouldn't mark to zero until you are exercised into the short stock from $40.

You will be short 100 shares from $40 if you have no long inventory of SMCI shares.
