Hello, does anyone know if there's any prop firm where minimum capital/risk deposit would be less than 5,000 to start trading with them?

  3. Way to be an asset to the site. Went don't need another non-contributing ass. We already have Surf and that's plenty.

Now, why would anyone want to plant more than $5-10k at these firms? I have a hard time trusting any of them after some of the horror stories.

  4. Exactly. I was close to a lawsuit and it took 3 months to get my deposit back.
Once you park your money at one of these firms, it's tough getting it out.
In many cases you are forced to sign a 1 year lock-up agreement.

My futures clients, especially the independent traders, are keeping their accounts fairly modest - some even have multiple accounts using different FCMs. After the PFG and Man debacles, keeping way more capital in an account than you realistically use is likely not a great idea. You can always wire money in quickly.

While not a prop firm, there is a firm in the Bahamas that offers 6:1, no pdt, $4.95/1000 shares, $500 min, and DAS Trader as the platform. I've been with them for awhile and have no problems getting paid. Not perfect, but an easy way to get rolling. Shark Traders offers 20:1 or 30:1 with 1k minimum, but I have no personal experience w them. Nothing wrong with starting small. Good luck

I think all prop firms have 1 year lock up regardless of the deposit, thus should that be an issue do not sign up with a prop, do your homework before you join any prop and GENERALLY props that accept minimal amount of deposit are not the firms you should want to join.
