Hello, Im a trading beginner and also new on this forum! I recently started a trial of the Plus Version of TradingView and was satisfied the first days but suddenly there is a problem with my papertrading (I only trade with papertrading the E-mini S&P 500 Index Futures yet). If I open a trade (long or short) there is a big loss marked in the chart and also shown in my bank balance or I get stopped out immediately. But when I close the trade the correct win or loss is noted in the account history and also suddenly in the bank balance. I’m a beginner and have no Idea how to explain this. I hope somebody can help me or has the same problem as me! Best regards
For now my guess is that you may be referring to the available margin going up and down as you enter and exit trades. If you can post some screenshots it will make it easier to figure out the issue
The first picture shows the situation after I open the trade. There is suddenly a big loss wether the market never was at this point. The second picture shows the situation after I close the trade. There is the correct bank balance noted suddenly and also in the history there is noted the correct loss or profit when I close the trade as shown in picture three. Hope you can help me!
That is very odd. Especially the 2 negative numbers in the first pic. I have had a few similar minor glitches fix themself by closing app/logging out and back in. If you are using the desktop version, see if the error happens on the web version (and vice versa). If it is happening on both, check to see if you have accidentally changed any settings in the paper trading account. Reset the account if you need to. If that doesn't work I'd say contact TradingView. If anyone else has some suggestions pleas chime in.
Are you using LIVE data feed? I get the feeling this is because you're using delayed data. Unless you're subscribed to CQG or other data vendor, Tradingview will only show delayed data for ES. So if you're on delayed mode, switch over to BTC/USD (no subscription needed) and see if it duplicates the same error. If you're already using live feed, I suggest you sign out of ALL your accounts: Web, Desktop, and Phone app. Then clear the Cache and sign back in and see if that helps. Next, RESET your paper account back to zero. If none of them help, create a new account using a different alias. See if that clears up the issue.
schizo is right, your CME Data is delayed by 10 minutes. Try trading US500 which is similar to ES and data is free.
Thanks for all your help! The problem occurs in the desktop version and also in the web version. It’s right that I use delayed data (10 minutes) and now I deleted my trading view account and created a new one. But strangely the problem occurs again. When I trade markets with live data like schizo suggested everything’s right. There is no such problem. I think that if everything’s reset, like it has to be when I create a new account how can there be the same problem? I would have contacted the support but they only provide customer service for paid subscription. Really outrageous.
On tradingview CME data is $7/month, you can paper trade US500 if you're not willing to pay for CME data.
Yes, I know that I can pay for live data but I just don’t understand what’s the problem. Is the papertrading the problem or would I have the same issues when I would connect my broker and trade with real money?
