Anyone also experiencing problems with IB's charts? I occasionally look at intraday charts and am recently experiencing problems where chart bar data do not update in real-time. Take a look at the attached image. This is a chart of NZD.USD (currency) and hence there should not be any issue with data "outside of regular trading hours". I use the normal Tws frontend and TWS Mosaic App.
To be perfectly honest, I stopped using IB charts eons ago, for various issues and nuisances. The only thing that comes to mind that MAY cause this other than just typical IB charting issues is "Keep chart up-to-date" option in chart parameters. [image attached] I use Multicharts licensed for my intraday charting "IB data" with no issues [other than the occasional pacing violations]. Augmented with Tradingview for long term charting. When testing the charting option MC-IB.net offered free with IB I didn't notice any charting difference in performance from the licensed version. [The pacing violations remain the same for both free and licensed versions] So I saw no further need to run MC-IB charts. For quick intraday reference charts I suggest just using the included MC-IB charting or web based equity charts. If you don't need a full featured charting platform with dedicated feed, for a nominal fee you can obtain real time equity charting via Tradingview. [My previous post regarding costs.] It is my believe that IB gave up on their charting platform and opted to incorporate MC-IB as a solution/excuse to cease further development. I know, I know, you would think a brokerage included reliable charting as a standard option and not rely on third party vendors, but that is not the case. IB charting has been an issue for years, and will probably remain so for many years to come. My workaround is less than ideal but effective.
thanks, needless to say I checked this option is ticked. Agree that IB may have given up on its own charting package on the Java side. I think they are very eager to add features to their mobile solutions, though. And most new features will be added onto the Java version but I do not think they are serious in ironing out existing problems with the Java charting solution.
