Hi, Does anyone else find that the private messaging is not working? Everytime I try to send a private message, a page would come out and said database error or some sort. Thanks!
When I click on Private Messages from usercp.php it takes me to private.php but the message on that page says I don't have permission to access it. In other words I can't send pm's. vCard download was disabled so I changed it to enabled but that hasn't helped. TIA
I am still having issues with Private Messaging. About 2 weeks ago I PMd another ET user and just the first few words of my message appeared. He was able to reply to me successfully though. On my reply, another 6-8 words appeared. When looking at my sent messages, most of the message was not saved or sent. Just yesterday the same thing occurred PMing another ET user with the same pattern as above. Is something specifically wrong with my account? Please advise - thank you!
smwbbe, Try to PM me whatever you sent before, (or something similar) and let's see if it happens again. The only way I can diagnose the problem is to see it for myself.
The message was to me, and the problem appears to be the same as that which has been mentioned several times: the "truncated" posts. The problem seems to center around commas, apostrophes/single quotes, and hyphens. If you look back over posts made before the upgrade, these characters have been replaced by strings of nonsense characters. If one tries to copy and paste something from outside ET, whether an article or something from Word or Notepad or whatever, anything from the first comma or apostrophe forward is cut off. You said earlier that this had something to do with the new software's security aspect. I can understand your concern about security, but if members are discouraged from posting, that's not so great either. Something composed inside ET, of course, passes with no problem. But then there are all the constraints placed on native posts such as the editing window and post length and so on. And there's always the problem of losing one's connection for whatever reason before the post is completed, in which case it all goes down the drain. Saving it doesn't help because it can't be transferred. I realize you're not finished, which is why I haven't brought this up again, but if you plan on looking into it anyway, it's not a user-caused problem.
I just composed something entirely inside ET and had the same thing happen - only the first word was there after looking at the sent message.
