Hi im really new to all of this options trading. im looking over a chart that i was sent and i cant find the cost of premiums on this. can someone help?
so the ask price is the premiums? ah i see and since youre purchasing it per 100 shares you multiply by 100? Or is it just the ask price by itself?
If an option is offered at 5.00, and you buy it there, the cost will be the price*100, if it is a standard option, or $500 for 1 contract.
and how do i look for options; lets say for crude oil. Are the options quotes or available options something i have to ask from my broker? Cuz in stocks the price is pretty much universal. But im wondering if with options if it varies from broker to broker? If it doesnt is there a list of options that i can look at? Kinda of like finviz? im osrry but i really dont have clue about options. I do like the idea immensely.
but what about the premiums price? So contract to purchase for me would be 500$ but then i would have to pay a premium. would that be multiplied by a number as well or just alone.
bc i really would like to get into crude oil wti options for a quick short and then look for a rebound long.
The option markets are exchanges that your broker provides access to. You should see the same prices on each trading platform. By the way, when you get to options on futures, the multiplier is not always 100. Crude options are for 1000 barrels, so the multiplier is 1000.
If you buy 1 option at $5.00 and the multiplier is 100, your broker will take $500 out of your account to pay for the options, plus fees.
