The x-rasy are pretty nasty... https://www.cbsnews.com/news/post-covid-lungs-worse-than-the-worst-smokers-lungs-surgeon-says/ "Post-COVID lungs look worse than any type of terrible smoker's lung we've ever seen. And they collapse. And they clot off. And the shortness of breath lingers on... & on... & on." "Everyone's just so worried about the mortality thing and that's terrible and it's awful," she told CBS Dallas. "But man, for all the survivors and the people who have tested positive this is -- it's going to be a problem."
I personally think the 70-80% asymptomatic scarred lungs are a wrong data point. On reddit: "As a radiologist I’ve seen plenty of symptomatic Covid+ patients who have a normal chest xray."
It happens my plans today changed and I'm here at the heart and lung hospital with a friend (waiting outside, not allowed in) who is experiencing haemoptysis, healthy guy, 40s. No flights, fall or accident recently. We don't know yet and it's unlikely but last January with what seemed to be covid before it should have been possible like I also experienced.
Very good friend contracted Covid, unfortunately he’s one of the 5% who end up in the ICU. Late 50’s, very active, fit, avid golfer, non-smoker but is borderline diabetic. Might add Hispanic, not trying to be racist but studies show there’s a correlation (debate for another thread). He was in the ICU for close to 3 weeks, kicked the virus but has serious lung damage, been home and back into hospital, last night makes the 3rd time, constant oxygen, if he gets out of bed for anything, oxygen levels drop low 70’s, or less and he passes out.
I believe most people fight off the virus like any other. But for the few where normal virus’ lingers in the lungs causing pneumonia this virus attacks the blood vessels causing clots. Comorbidities open the door for the virus to attack the blood vessels of other areas, your weak links.
Reddit comment: "That COVID X-ray is during an active infection. This is slightly misleading. It clears up after. I’m an ED doc. Edit: ED is Emergency Department." Another one: "Seen multiple x-rays of people who had horrid scans in March, and by august their lungs were completely clear. This is a sensational and misleading article."
This is really unbelievable. I believe that eating healthy, a good morning walk, staying positive and hygienic can cure all your health as well as mental problems.
Yeah, no. Things like cancer are far more about random chance than lifestyle. I volunteer in hospice support, you would not believe how many recently fit, very surprised people end up in them.
