Fish rotting at the head!!! ********************************************************************************** Ex-Shell Oil president: 'I felt extorted' Posted by CNN's David Fitzpatrick and Drew Griffin Editor's note: CNN's "AC 360" begins a yearlong series of reports this week about an enormous surge in political donations to candidates of both parties. Longtime corporate executives tell CNN that the incessant push for money amounts to "legalized extortion" but the cash buildup shows no signs of stopping. (CNN) â The former president of Shell Oil USA didn't candy-coat it: America's political fund-raising system, he said, amounts to legalized extortion. "I feel extorted," John Hofmeister told CNN's Drew Griffin. "Every time I wrote a check I felt that it was a form of extortion, the price of entry, because of the reception that you got when you contributed versus the reception when you did not contribute." Here is one guy's comment: ********************************************************************************** I really don't care if they go parading around. I care that we lose jobs, we pay higher taxes, and we lower our standard of living. For example, Apple (and I love Apple products) hire lobbyists to have tax laws changed in their favor where they can move all their jobs from Cupertino to China (230,000 alone just to produce the iPhone). Then they move their corporate office to Ireland to avoid paying corporate taxes and another office to Nevada, to avoid California State taxes. They then park all their profits overseas to avoid any remaining taxes. ALL legal. But, not right. We ALL lose, except we save about $65 on each iPhone. Something is not rightâ¦â¦and that is just ONE example.
Could it be that you're finally understanding that the true problem is the system, and not one particular party?
