Please suggest a good Algo Trading Software

Hi All,

I am a newbie and looking for some software to build algo trading, I am using IB and searched a lot, found MultiChart but it looks like for chart trading, not for HFT and algo trades.

Anyone with experience in MultiChart for building your own algo ? or any better software available ?

I tried a bunch of stuff and settled on my own

 

HFT requires server co-location with clearing house servers. You have any idea what is required?

 

I've been using Amibroker for many years, but the coding language some say is a steep learning curve. Others are saying Amibroker is not so good but saying that, I run an older version which never glitches.
Also some years ago I coded using SierraChart and that too I enjoyed. A common complaint is that customer support is grumpy, but again, there is a learning curve which customer support prolly are tired of going over the same questions from noobs.

 

What is your monthly budget for software/data?

 

Go over to the algotrading group (/r/algotrading) on reddit. That's where all the spaghetti throwers hang out. Your question has been answered dozens of times.

 

What's a spaghetti thrower? Google couldn't help me with it.

 

Often done conceptually, to see what sticks.

 

Then the algo is traded manually to see if it actually works ie. profitable.

 

You can use Multicharts to build an algo, and in fact, we at Optimus Futures think it's one of the better software to build an algo and trade on it because it's stability in execution. But, HFT would require you to host it and get an API that is compatible with such low latency execution. You can also consider working directly with an API if you are a programmer. We have experience with numerous API and deployed CTS-T4 and Rithmic.
