Hi, Anyone has a recommended free platform to scan for unusual options activity? scanning parameters- historic (x days ago) 1) options volume 2) open interest 3) implied volatility 4) orders filled at bid or ask There are many paid services out there, mostly piggybacking cboe's paid livevol database. but I figured there must be a brokerage scanner that filters for such parameters for free.
It is called make your own, I have never found anything to do everything I can dream up. Maybe there is one? I never cared for the brokers had, too much of what generally everyone uses. And biggest problem, you inquire about something, they make it available to all. Just like Spread trading, very little I could find at time I wanted it to plot spreads like bar charts and yet in late 1980s I remember having it. Spread trading is like one of best secrets around, low margins and decent opportunities, but like anything, you have to study just as long as you would do for any type of investments. Good luck.
spoken like a veteran from the trenches I now realise I asked the obvious. n would delete this thread if I could.
We offer LVX with accounts at IB for execution or if you open an account with us at Wedbush, you can use another platform for execution and LVX for analytics. We don't charge for LVX, but we will expect you to trade through either that IB or Wedbush account. If you would like to try a demo, please email me. https://www.lightspeed.com/trading-platforms/livevol-x/
Take a look at Options Electronic Eye in the TT platform. Electronic Eye monitors options market activity and may be configured to alert the trader to trading opportunities based on their criteria.
If you use the scanner for your grossest filter, you can use the columns and their content-ranking ability, and then filter down to the top _X_ results, and get prettyyyyy darn close. I don't know what others offer, but as a recovering equities tick scalper, I could bring up a Top12 Candidates list in no time, every morning.
TradeAlert is far and away the best service. it also provides some "insight" into the character of the trade. It's on every bank desk. It's a paid service.
