Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine antibodies disappear in many by 7 months

Six months after receiving the second dose of the two-shot vaccine from Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE, many recipients no longer have vaccine-induced antibodies that can immediately neutralize worrisome variants of the coronavirus, a new study suggests. Researchers analyzed blood samples from 46 healthy, mostly young or middle-aged adults after receipt of the two doses and again six months after the second dose. "Our study shows vaccination with the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine induces high levels of neutralizing antibodies against the original vaccine strain, but these levels drop by nearly 10-fold by seven months" after the initial dose, Bali Pulendran of Stanford University and Mehul Suthar of Emory University said by email. In roughly half of all subjects, neutralizing antibodies that can block infection against coronavirus variants such as Delta, Beta, and Mu were undetectable at six months after the second dose, their team reported on Thursday on bioRxiv https://bit.ly/3A4p1z0 ahead of peer review. Neutralizing antibodies are not the immune system's only defense against the virus. Still, they "are critically important in protecting against SARS-CoV-2 infection," said Pulendran and Suthar. "These findings suggest that administering a booster dose at around 6 to 7 months following the initial immunization will likely enhance protection against SARS-CoV-2 and its variants."

Seeing that from Day 1 the mRNA vaccines came out the expectation was that antibody immunity would wane in under 2 years and boosters would be required. Today they are finding some individuals (the elderly and immunno-compromised) need boosters at the 6 month mark.

This is not really surprising. However at least mRNA vaccines are providing 100% antibody formation directly after vaccination. Compare this to natural infection where 36% of those infected don't get any antibody immunity whatsoever.

Let's take a look at the facts & information. As stated -- not everyone who has a case of COVID-19 will have natural immunity. In a recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study of those with prior COVID-19 infection, 36 percent did not form any antibodies against the virus. This is in stark contrast to antibody formation in 100 percent of (non-immunocompromised) people who receive even one dose of an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna), as impressively reported in the large vaccine trials. So, from a practical perspective, if a business or school is trying to figure out if someone is safe to be around, they can rest quite assured that someone who shows them vaccine proof is safe, but it would be nearly impossible to determine if someone with prior COVID-19 is safe. Beyond the logistical issues of proving that a person had prior COVID-19, how can they prove they're in the 64 percent who have some natural immunity?

The only possible approach would be to require those claiming "natural immunity" to be tested at regular intervals and carry proof of their last antibody immunity test. This would be viewed as the short-term equivalent of vaccination. However most governments (or individuals) do not want to fund a antibody testing program when vaccination is the much preferred alternative.

Fortunately universities and pharma companies are already working on a universal, permanent vaccine for coronavirus which will not require boosters. However it is about 5 years out from being available in most estimates.

  3. Scott Gottlieb says natural immunity wears off, however, there is more to it than that.

Immunity is conferred when one’s DNA is properly transcribed with part of the attacking virus’s genome or as replicated by a vaccine and the immune system is able to efficiently “Read” that transcribed DNA.

Viruses that rapidly and significantly mutate, such as viruses that cause colds and flus, create new variants the immune system may not recognize, even if exposed to an earlier variant of that virus. Guess why virologists bother distinguishing between variants, why some mutations are considered “Variants of concern”, and why influenza vaccine manufacturers will debate which variant to create a seasonal vaccine for? There is no enhanced protection against a virus the immune system does not recognize.

New Covid variants are going to be with us for a long time, possibly for generations, whether we vaccinate or not. Remember, the current crop of Covid vaccines took over a year to develop and it seems like we are averaging a major new Covid variant every six months or so. Further, the “Novel” aspects of Covid-SARS 2 may be waning as people get infected and vaccinated. Hopefully this will result in less serious outcomes as future Covid SARS 2 variants come to the forefront.

The majority of people, whether unvaccinated or not, do not get infected by whatever virus is going around, especially if precautions are taken such as utilizing PPE, social distancing, and maintaining sanitation diligence. It may be a net benefit in dealing with rapidly mutating viruses of only moderate concern that low risk people are not forced to vaccinate because uninfected and unvaccinated people may have more robust immune systems due to the fact their DNA is not transcribed by an “Excessive” number of “Obsolete” virus genomes.

A significant number of poor Covid outcomes are related to improper action after someone starts to display symptoms. It has been shown that maintaining proper hydration and electrolyte balance is critical, making contacting a medical professional immediately after symptoms important.

A balanced diet that avoids vitamin and mineral deficiencies, sufficient exercise, and avoiding or correcting anything that can cause inflammation, such as poor dental hygiene or high fructose corn syrup, may go a long way to reduce the severity of a Covid infection.

To sum up, the best defense against Covid for low risk individuals who have concerns about Covid vaccines include:

    1. Living a healthy lifestyle for a strong immune system.
    2. Making an honest effort at avoiding infection.
    3. Knowing what to do and taking immediate action in case of a Covid infection for themselves and others.

  5. Let’s make a deal. If you reasonably and accurately explain the process how immunity is conferred while showing my explanation is not accurate, I’ll be happy to take a week off of posting.

Viewing your recent quantity of posts, it looks like you have a little extra time on your hands to do some useful research for us denizens of ET.

Should you take up this challenge and still have some free time left over, how about writing a short essay on one of the photos in the following video:

As if the antibodies for any virus circulate in the blood forever. If that were true, our bodies would be flooded with so many antibodies, we'd no longer have enough oxygen in our red blood cells. The white blood cells would destroy us.

Does anyone here know even remotely know how many virii and bacteria our body is fighting off, day after day? I sure as hell do not, but it has to be at least THOUSANDS.

Our world is a dis-ease-infected planet. War of the Worlds got that one right.
