Pershing Square’s Ackman said the US economy beginning to slow, & the Fed is done

Discussion in 'Economics' started by Nighthawk, Oct 2, 2023.

  1. Ackman was interviewed on CNBC.

From his interview Monday, some highlights:

    • Fed is probably done
    • I think the economy is starting to slow ... is still solid, but it’s definitely weakening. Seeing lots of evidence of weakening in the economy
    • The level of real interest rates is high enough to slow things down
    • High mortgage rates ... high credit card rates, they’re starting to really have an impact on the economy

    Perfect timing from Ackman.

Hurry up and buy your March 2024 T-Note call options....

The guy is a psychopath. He loves to lie & cheat to make money. Will he be coming back on CNBC and cry crocodile tears like he did in March 2020? Why does anybody listen to this psycho.

  3. Bill learned it from the "bad boyz". Cheating and lying is a professional attribute hedgies have been born with. And by "lying" I mean "bending the truth". :D:D:D

I don't think Fed is done, and I have been on the right side of the Fed from the very beginning. Employment growth still sky high, hourly earning will pull up dramatically higher, union negotiated wage increases sky high, and people spend as if there is no tomorrow. OPEC takes advantage of the Ukraine crisis and quarrel between the US and China and now Canada and India (all large commodity producers/consumers) to ramp up oil prices even further and left extremist idiots in politics are willing to go bazooka just in order to be perceived environmentally conscious. Inflation will again creep up, barring an equity collapse.

Touches on the broader issue if "economists and central bankers are rethinking the quantitative easing strategy that 'saved the world' but created bubbles and distortions". So is keeping interest rates at almost zero for 15 years a bad idea?
