Perception that US drives the world economy 20 years out of date, says economist Jim O'Neill

One controversial option that has been canvassed is for central banks to deliver "helicopter drops" of cash directly into citizens' bank accounts in the hope they will spend it and revive growth.

Mr O'Neill, a former Goldman Sachs chief economist, said the apparent perception in the administration of US President Donald Trump, that the US dominates the global economy was about 20 years out of date.
