Ouch. From the OP's article: "Elliot is the latest financial executive, including billionaire hedge fund managers Paul Tudor Jones and David Tepper, and activist investor Carl Icahn, who are decamping from the Northeast for Florida which boasts lower taxes." So apparently a bunch of these financial managers moved to Florida from Manhattan in order to escape Covid, and decided that it was actually a pretty nice lifestyle choice.
I’m shocked to see that people with means will move to more tax friendly areas that also have better weather. Who could have possibly seen this coming? (Hint- Not Democrats)
Well, politics aside - Covid has most certainly demonstrated to Companies that they don't need to spend hundreds of millions of dollars per year on office space in Manhattan or Seattle. And if shit gets too crazy - people that can afford to move will indeed move. Life is complicated enough without all the manufactured chaos supported and even promoted by the local government.
Besides Covid*, Taxes and Gubmint another factor is they all those guys are aging - just like rest of us. "I wanna go to Miami" ever since A/C was invented. * note FL has been doing worse (deaths and new cases) than NY since early spring spike up north. Although the density is certainly less, especially over on Palm Beach Island lol.
