https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/brexi...es-to-let-boris-johnson-shut-down-parliament/ The Queen has agreed to dismiss Parliament until October 14th. Boris has said that if a vote of no confidence occurs before the dismissal (September 8th) he will not call an election until *after* Brexit. Wow. Reminds one a little bit of Cromwell to be honest. Looks like Boris is going to get it done one way or another.
Boris was a natural born American citizen- born in NYC just like his mentor Trump- but gave up his citizenship very recently, when he took one of his recent posts, mayor of london, foreign secretary, something. Too bad, otherwise he could run for President after Trump finishes his second term. I guess Nikki Haley got lucky.
At best Trump will just be a private citizen after 2020 at worst he will be serving, in jail that is.
We got a deep bench. Ted Cruz would probably, make a great US President. If not, there is Mike Pence. There are others like Mike Meadows, Kris Kobach who will protect the interests of the US!
I'm a bit on the fence on this. While I applaud Boris for his actions to cut around the inaction from Parliament , I have to honestly ask myself how I would feel if I didn't support the underlying reason of his action (to enforce Brexit). The answer is that I wouldn't. Therefore, I cannot say I like that he asked the Queen to disband the Parliament. You can't decide to eliminate elected officials from the process merely because they aren't giving you the answer you want - or any answer for that matter. In my opinion, this should not have been done.
I'm actually surprised the queen has the authority. So much for symbolic figure as the Brits like to call their monarchs.
It is pretty shocking, isn't it? I think the calculus for Boris is pretty simple, the world saw the UK vote itself out of the EU but subsequently the government simply refused to implement it. Many were beginning to wonder if that was going to stand. I think Boris rightly understands that the referendum result must be executed one way or another if the UK system is actually a democracy. The machinations of a constitutional monarchy are pretty interesting, at least to me.
Boris has some other things to do and I am jealous. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/meet-jack-russell-rescue-puppy-19121299
Those Jack Russells get good mileage. They are all Speedy Gonzales. No one will ever accuse them of being "low energy." I hope that when they take the dog to have him groomed occasionally that they do a little grooming on Boris too while he is there.
