Hi all, I had some short AAPL put options of Mar 17 140 strike.
Yesterday it looked pretty safe but then suddenly the stock fell to some weird price.

What is the weird price you ask? This is what I don't understand either, when I look at AAPL now it seems like it closed at 139.91 but then the price refreshes to 139.99 at yahoo or Google finance.
When I look at IB it seems like 140

Really is there no way to see the closing price of a stock?

For now the options gone from my portfolio but I didn't receive any shares or any notification.

What is the deciding price for the weekly options? And shall I expect to get assigned?
    Thanks

The price that matters is the close on the exchange they are listed on. Since AAPL is a NASDAQ listed security, you would look to that close which looks like 139.99. As this is only one penny in the money, there might be many exception filed. Your broker needs to advise you by monday morning. http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/aapl/historical

Also, that sudden drop you referred to looks like MOC orders, and the stock moved through the strike, but the move was very small. At 3:55 it was 140.06. That is a drop of 7 cents over 5 minutes. I suggest in the future you consider closing or rolling your positions when a 140 stock is that close and it matters to you if this happens.

Thanks yes I wasn't near the monitor at this time and the stock rose strong to 140.7 so I felt secured

Will learn from that to the future thanks.

Will I know about the assignment before the opening of Monday?

That would be the norm. I'm not sure when IB updates your positions or when the OCC alerts them. Try and login tonight or tomorrow to see if they have updated you. These are automatically assigned unless the longs file an exception.

Bob, do you know of a way to find the actual number of contracts exercised for particular stock/strike? I remember the CBOE used to publish it for OEX options, but I haven't been able to find this information for other stocks.

I do not. You would have to contact The OCC and ask if they provide that.

If someone asked himself then no I wasn't assigned at the end (although it could be good)
