Options Exercise

Discussion in 'Options' started by Humble Investor, Jul 22, 2015.

  1. How soon can I sell my stock after I exercise a call option with Interactive Brokers?

As soon as you see it on TWS.

However, You may be able to instruct IBKR to do a simultaneous liquidation via the Account Management message Ticket.

  3. How soon it appears on TWS? immediately?
The problem is that my options are adjusted with ridiculous spreads. At the moment, it is much better to exercise the calls than sell them. it would be great if I can sell the underlying immediately. Would that be possible with simultaneous liquidation?

Sorry, I have never auto-exercised stock options via TWS. I don't know.

That would be a "hedged" liquidation. You may short the stock to lock in gains or losses. The exercise of your long call option would offset the position making you flat.

Btw, don't take my explanation as official IBKR jargon. I am just a guy trading in my underpants.
