Hi, I run some algos with the need to participate in the NYSE opening auction. Sometimes an odd lot slips in and I have noticed that I do not always get the NYSE opening print. Is the NYSE opening price only guaranteed for non-odd lots? kind regards, Steffan
This may be out-dated, but IB says that they won't route opening odd lot orders to NYSE's opening auction. https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/trading/orders/oddLotOrders.php The NYSE imbalance data also doesn't include odd lot volume, but I'm not sure if this is because they don't participate in the auction or for historical reasons.
Hmm, ok that might explain it. What strikes me is that the order was accepted, so I assumed that it would meet the standards for participation. Thank you for helping out!
odd lots do participate on the open at nyse unless the total of all orders is an odd lot, then they cancel back all moo odd lots and the stock will open on a quote and all normal odd lot orders will execute as normal.
