Open The Economy... "Get Back To Normal"... ??

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Scataphagos, Apr 17, 2020.

  1. So... Trumpy says, "states can lift the lockdown".

OK, some do that. And employers open, telling employees "get back to work or lose your job".

Then, let's say... some/many workers come back to work get infected with the virus, and some die...

Can the employer be sued? Would the threat of that prevent/delay employers from calling employees back to work?.

Lots of questions... no easy answers.

I am just waiting for the lawsuits from employees forced back to work who get infected.

Knowing the government they will probably pass some legislation stating you can't sue your employer if you get COVID-19.

  3. Just like the government "holds harmless" vaccine makers for all the harm and deaths they cause.

    :(

It is totally irresponsible to lift the lockdown when there's no cure nor vaccine. Wtf are people thinking

  5. Trump is in a hurry to lift the lockdown for political reasons. Might cost him the 2020 election. Might costs thousands of lives...

We'll find out soon enough whether that's a big mistake. (Personally, I'm not going for it... at least for a while.)

I think the prudent political play for Trump is to take no risks. Say that he is leaving it up to the states... and he mobilizing everything towards what the experts say... so he is working on cures, vaccines and testing with all his might.

Being in favor of a quick re-opening may be being driven by the carnage he is seeing to his own businesses and projecting it out towards the rest of the businesses.

  7. What if - for example- the mortality rate is less than say for the 2017-18 flu year which some of the revised models say it might be.

Should we also shut the national economy down for bad flu seasons?

How many months is the "bad flu" season over? If COVID-19 was not addressed with mitigation in the U.S. what would the number of deaths be over a three month period? (Let me help you - at minimum 2 million).

These idiots will continue to parrot "you shut down the economy over xyz deaths" never realizing it was because of it not in spite of it.

  10. The only problem is Fllu goes away for the most part as we have seen over the years but Covid can just keep spreading. Also most of contagion with flu happens with symptoms so easy to keep those numbers under control.

the idea that warm weather would slow down the virus and the Trumptard who repeated that often overlooked the Covid cases in Malaysia, SIngapore, Dominican Republic, Panama etc....
