Not to mention that Meta will have 350,000 NVidea H100s of compute GPUs (that's equivalent to approximately $10.5 Billion). Weekly
If AGI comes to life, and its programmed in such a way as to be beneficial for humans, I wonder if it would conclude that social media is the root of a vast array of problems that humans face today and hence suggest that companies like Facebook should in fact be dismantled. How ironic would it be that a creation of Facebook leads to it's demise.
Mark says they'll plan to have only the hardware infrastructure in place to support AGI in place by the end of the year, not that they have AGI by the end of the year. Big difference. Setting up the infrastructure is the relatively easy and predictable part of the effort, and I think it'll take years to reach AGI (which is really largely a software development problem) by which time the H100's are far outdated tech. Of course the H100s will have other uses while they are working towards AGI.
Considering his past business behavior... that is an accurate response to his FREE AI open source announcement. I would assume he wants to give HIS version away to as many millions of users as possible for FREE, only in the beginning... But, I predict down the road, there will be A subscription fee that will increase in cost every 6 months once he has everyone locked in... It is exactly what Microsoft and many other tech companies do.
C'mon, no need to be such a cantankerous crank. Even Musk open-sourced his Tesla. That doesn't mean everyone can now build the same replica in one's garage. Those who have the brain and the willpower to make something out of Zuck's proposal will do it regardless of whether it remains open source or not.
